Legendary Beef Stroganoff

The French chef at the house of the Stroganoff family in St. Petersburg made the first step to internationally promote the famous dish, Bœuf Stroganoff, in Paris 1891. ‘Boeuf'” is the French word for ‘beef’.

New Twist for Beef Stroganoff

Enjoy a new twist on Beef Stroganoff for your fall dinner with a juniper-cacao based spice blend for a mushroom stew. It fits well with or without beef. You can also add it to a mushroom casserole with green beans. Pink pepperberries round the flavor up.

Pink Peppercorns

Pink peppercorns are actually berries and can also called Pink pepperberries. They are best when added at the end of cooking or sprinkled on the finished meal. Their flavor pairs perfectly with juniper.

Boeuf Stroganoff Culinary Spice Kit
  • Pouch [1] Juniper roasted cacao (organic), black pepper, allspice, cinnamon, cloves
  • Pouch [2] Pink peppercorns
Instructions
Prepare Noodles
  1. Cook noodles according to package instructions.
Prepare Beef
  1. On a PLATE, season beef with salt & pepper to taste.
  2. Add 1 cup of flour.
  3. Toss and turn beef in flour until it is covered an all sides with a thin layer of flour.
Fry Beef
  1. In a large PAN, heat 2 tbsp oil until sizzling.
  2. Fry beef for about 3 minutes, until it’s slightly brown on all sides but not fully cooked inside.
  3. Transfer beef to a PLATE. Cover PLATE with a LID.
Fry Vegetables
  1. In the SAME PAN, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat.
  2. Fry onion until translucent. It takes about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic, mushrooms, and Boeuf Stroganoff Spices [1]. Mix well.
  4. Fry mushrooms until they are almost cooked, but still firm. It takes about 5-10 minutes.
  5. Add wine, mix well, and cook until wine evaporated.
  6. Add orange juice and cream. Mix well.
  7. Bring to boil. Let boil for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Turn off!
  9. Return beef and mix well.
  10. Let rest for 3 minutes to reheat the beef.
Last
  1. Serve mushroom sauce over noodles.
  2. Sprinkle with Boeuf Stroganoff Spices [2] to taste.
  3. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

Variations

  • Substitute noodles with rice.
  • Substitute beef with chicken. Fry 5 min.
  • Substitute beef with green beans. Add beans to translucent onions and fry until beans are tender. Then add mushrooms.
